8 week Healthy Weight Loss Challenge 17 starts Aug 18, 2014, join anytime

I think it is time to change it up because some people find us in the middle of a challenge and don't feel they can jump in, but may lose their momentum by the time the next challenge starts. So continuing with this challenge, I will add those newcomers to our teams, keep track of their weight loss percentages and add it to the teams total for however long they are a part of the team to keep everyone motivated! The longer you participate, the better for your team.

Words of wisdom from Milk8shake (with minor modifications):
The version 1 thru version 15 eight week challenges were a great success, and many of us are up for another eight weeks - we're opening it up for any newbies who would like to join the next round of the challenge.

Please read below.

Background: The thought came to my head because I joined the "losing weight in 2012" thread, but I didn't have much motivation, and I had no-one to be accountable to. I was thinking about the Biggest Loser, and how teams can be such a motivation. So, I thought I would throw this out there for anyone who needs to get some weight loss happening, but just can't seem to get off the couch.

The challenge: Commit to an eight week weight loss challenge. You'll be assigned to a team, and your weight loss percentage will be measured on an individual and a team basis. The team with the highest loss percentage at the end of the eight weeks will be the winner. This is a TEAM effort. If you lose, your team wins! Your weekly progress will be updated on the leader board for all to see.

The requirements/rules:
  1. You have to be willing to commit to the challenge beginning June 23, 2014 and ending August 11, 2014
  2. You have to be willing to commit to exercising a minimum of 4 x 30 minute sessions per week - the type of exercise is up to you!
  3. You have to be willing to check in and update your progress and weight at least weekly on Mondays.
  4. You have to be willing to share your weight and your height. (By PM if you are shy) You may not join if losing 1 lb / .5 kg per week will put you in an underweight category according to your BMI (check here) at the end of eight weeks.
  5. You may not join if you are pregnant. If you become pregnant during the challenge, weight loss up to your BFP will be added to the team challenge, but then I will ask that you wait until after your baby is born to join again.

The prize: A thinner waistline, a slimmer derriere, and the opportunity to bask in the glory of the winning team. The challenge will not start until Monday, Aug. 18, 2014. Sign up now to let us know you are interested so I can begin making teams.

I'm in again. Went up to 188.5 because of starting my period again. Not only am I tracking weight, it's a good way for me to track my cycles. Lol

I would love to get out of the 180's this challenge. My goal weight is between 165 and 170.

140.5 today. So close to those elusive 130's I've been aiming for but not too hopeful since I always seem to get a little dip when AF shows. I injured my calf a couple of weeks ago and my massage therapist says she thinks it's a tear. So I haven't run in 12 days but am still hopeful that I will be healed enough for the race this coming Sunday. Been feeling pretty depressed about it. Will be doing lots of yoga (and arnica, and ice) this week in the hopes of keeping fit.

I'm 141.4# this morning, up about 1#. Although my diet is a wreck, MIL's cooking is lower in veggies and fruits than I'm used to. But I'm not complaining, I need the help after going back to work following baby #2 . On the bright side, my mood is improving!!!! I'm so very thankful for that. Next step is to get back into a running routine and/ or the gym/the pool.

My scale said 185. I find that surprising but maybe with cycle times and all it is right to have that change from last week. I need to get a digital scale so I can get a better reading. Maybe I'll pick one up today or tomorrow while we're out for soccer. I've been awful about diet and exercise around our vacation and then since our return. I need to get back going. I'm hoping getting out of the house today will improve my mood and I'll have more energy this week. The kids should be exhausted after soccer and go to bed early so I'm planning on some dance therapy/exercise for me tonight

186.5 much better.

This weekend, I have 4 hockey games. Playing in a hockey tournament :-) Lots of exercise, but will be staying in a hotel. I end up eating out a lot. I do have some healthier restaurant choices, so will stick to those.

Well, my mom being here this last week didn't help my weight loss goals - too many sweets - 231.8 pounds today. Must get back on the band wagon!

171.5 lbs with my period showing up this morning. I think a certain amount of that weight is water retention. Hopefully next weigh in will be a loss.

147 pounds this morning. I've replaced my usual diet of whatever I make for the family + whatever the kids leave on their plates with green smoothies twice a day and a thoughtful dinner. I feel great, and am getting lots of the nutrients I was missing before! Also, I think I've nailed down my new workout schedule - 30 minute walk early in the morning, and 30 minutes of hula hooping after the kids go to bed. Everything is organized and perfect, and I'm sure it will remain that way

Sorry team my weight was 143 this morning. I know I have been eating really salty things lately, I'm hoping that is the problem. I've just gotten over a virus from last week that has me believing that the 141 was due to illness not a true weight loss on my part. Sigh. I am committed to my program though so I am going to be patient the scale will eventually go down. I hope.

Glad I found you again, hoping to join for this round, if there is room. I'm still hovering where I stuck to so stubbornly last challenge, with a little threat of hitting 165, but that was most recently due to my period, and I'm back down to 161. I suppose I could say "comfortably settled" instead of "stubbornly". Now that summer's busyness is over and I am looking forward to a regular schedule of work, and hot days start cooling off at 5pm instead of peaking at 5-6 and cooling off ofter 7pm, I can finally have a comfortable time for a walk. Haven't been doing any yoga recently, and I got up of the lawn chair a couple days ago and walked as hunched and stiff as an 80 yo. OK, back to those sun salutations.....

Anyway, feeling like I'm perched on the edge of what could be a downward turn, if I am diligent. No goal for this challenge except to not tank my team!

Well today I am at 141 again. I'm relieved and excited to see this number again, it's been a while.
I have been adding more vegetables to my diet and I believe this may be helping me to lose a little easier.

So, am I in? Let me know!

161 today, same as last week. But last week it seems was a fluke and I logged a 163.5 day after. But I've steadily got that back down to an "easy" 161, and this time I don't think it's fluke. Been a good girl about exercising, that's been helping a lot.

140.0. Soooooo close to the 130's which is my target. My UBW is 133#, but was 135# before I got pregnant with DS. So I'd be happy with that
