Exercise isn't the main way to lose weight. It uses up few calories, and it can also stimulate appetite! Now, it is excellent for overall health (both mental and physical), and for muscle toning so that you look good, whatever weight you are. It also can help rev up your metabolism a bit, but this is a small factor. There are very easy and short exercise routines such as this one:

I think more than anything, weight loss and other lifestyle change involves changing so many habits. Exercise is a tough one, so if it doesn't come easily to you, then add it later when you're ready.
A good first step is to keep a food diary. Record what you eat, and your weight, daily. Studies have found that even just doing either of these, people lose weight.
A lot of the nutritional advice you got above is really good. Here is what I would recommend:
Start your meals with a huge portion of vegetables. Eat as much as you can manage. Make sure to vary the vegetables.
Then, eat your protein (meat, seafood or legumes, such as lentils and beans) and carb. Whenever possible, eat a veggie carb (sweet potato, yams, squash, plantains) instead of a grain carb.
Be sure you eat enough healthy fats, especially with veggies and carbs. Good quality olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, are great veggie-based fats. Avoid rancid fats, and double check the smoke point of whatever fats you use, for higher heat cooking.
Stock your kitchen and purse with healthy treats and snacks that aren't too delicious, but will fit the bill. Dark chocolate and a little ziplock bag of nuts, for instance. And keep your fridge and freezer stocked with leftovers and other solutions so you're always prepared.
Boring food is easier to cook, and also is great for weight loss, because it will lower your appetite when the food isn't exciting. This doesn't mean that it has to be As Boring As Possible. Herbal vinaigrettes and other healthy sauces like pesto can provide a nice boost.
It can be a good idea to use a calorie logging website every now and then. You can make sure you aren't getting too many calories, and also you want to avoid getting too few. Eat healthy but eat the right amount of calories. (The website will help you calculate what that is for you.) Under-eating will put the body in crisis mode, and stall weight loss.
