here i go. i'm struggling too, i just want to lose 15 lbs. so five in august sounds great.

my biggest challenge is to stop snacking. I need to drink more water and to continue to go to the gym, at least 5 times a week.

any suggestions to stop snacking?? i snack mostly (i've observed) when i am frustrated (often with my DDs and DH). suppressed emotions, pacified with an unhealthy snack.

Meeeeeeeee!!!!!
I'd love to lose 5 in Aug.
I just let my gym membership go yesterday as I'm moving away. I'll have to find other activities at the new house to keep active. Maybe walking or biking.
I'm pretty sure if I cut out junk food and exercise a bit more I can reach the 5 pound goal.

I'm in! I haven't bee on the ball and too motivated. I'm hoping I will check in more and hold myself more accountable.

My goals:
Eat better / more reasonable portions. DO NOT BUY TEMPTATIONS. I'm not at the level yet to have a little ice cream, I will just try not to buy it.
Try to move more, but realisticlly I'm doing a camp here for my kids and their friends the first 2 weeks in Aug, and the end of the month my mom is coming, so I hope to gte more on the exercise for 5 in Sept.

Sign me up for another 5!

I'm 144 lbs (thanks to the July group) with a BMI of 25.56 and a fat percentage of 34.

I'm trying to bike at least 3 miles a day (hauling DD) and walk at least 2 miles/day (carrying DD2).

5 lbs in August would get me below 140! That's a number I haven't seen in a decade!

I am in. I lost 65 pounds but gained 10. I refuse to cave in to the weight gain. I lost 3 pounds in the last 3 weeks so I am off to a good start.
5 pounds in a month would be fantastic!!

-keep eating low calorie/fat
-get back to working out
-keep up my water intake

Hi everyone!

I weighed myself this morning, and the scale FINALLY moved again--and I'm down 1.5 lbs!

Does that count for August? lol

My goal is to lose 5 lbs this month (more importantly some inches!). I'll do this by continuing to work out 4-5x a week, (3-4 days cardio, 2-3 days strength) and by continuing to track my food.

For anyone new here, I highly recommend This Journal From Amazon. I love Sparkpeople, but I found it easier to track my food in a book I could carry with me, for some reason?

Hi,
I'm brand new to this forum, but I'd love to join y'all if I can. I am just starting to get serious and motivated about losing some weight. I've made the committment to myself to work out -- power yoga 3x/week, elliptical for 20 minutes 3x/week -- and to really start watching what I eat. I don't have a scale, but if I can play along without one please count me in!

Okay, I'm in for another 5. I've got 12.6 pounds left to go before I'm at 140 and 22 BMI. I have cut down majorly on dairy/desserts, I drink tons of water, and I do at least 30 minutes of cardio a day. I have also been eating lots of fiber and am cutting down on my white flour and other such junk. I have recently started doing strength training twice a week and that part is much more difficult for me. It's necessary, though, because I'm generally pretty weak and flabby. I also need to remember to go on walks with my toddler. I've been neglecting that lately because of the heat and she's been climbing the walls.

Oh, here's what I look like these days:

And I have my heavier pictures on there, too. I think you can see those, too?

Okay, here's my heavier picture that is from about 2.5 months ago:

So I've lost about 18 pounds and need to lose about 13.

I am in! I am way overweight and just want to get it off. I am totally unmotivated and can't seem to get moving. Maybe this will get me up and doing something. I am going to go weigh myself right now and get 5lbs off in August. If I lose 5 pounds every month I can get to my goal weight before I turn 40 in April.

Goals:

Lose 5lbs in August
Drink more water
Move as much as possible
Get to the YMCA to use my membership
Cut down and out with the soda

Thanks for this!

Thanks for looking at my pictures!
This is going to be a very bad weekend for me... My husband is always trying to spoil me with sweets and it's my birthday so I feel compelled to give in. I've been doing some calorie counting for fun lately and I'm actually kind of amazed at how FEW calories most of my very filling meals have. It's the occasional desserts that really make the numbers go through the roof.

My goals
1. Drink more water/herbal tea
2. 10 planks a day for as long as I can hold them (my core is WEAK!)
3. see a drop in body fat percentage
4. cardio 3x a week & weights 2x a week
5. cut back on snacking & cleaning the boys plates

Hey! I need the motivation and accountability. After getting a copy of my medical records, I have discovered I somehow gained lots and lots of weight over the last 3 years. :

My plan:
* walk daily (weather permitting) / work out dvd inside
* drink more water
* stop grazing while at work
* stick to Weight Watchers

I'm going to start small and work my way through it. I have a total of 150 lbs to lose. And I'm going to do it 5 lbs at a time, one month at a time.

I would like to lose about 25 lbs. It won't make me thin, but I figure that is a lost cause at this stage of my life anyway. (I just had one baby and we want to have another before too terribly long.)

I need to get out and walk more. I've been lazy this week.
I need to stop drinking so many calories.

I feel like I am actually eating fairly well. Ok, so I could stand to have less ice cream.

And I will continue with the 100 push up challenge! Maybe August will involve a five pound drop if I follow these simple guidelines.

My advice may not be appropriate for you. That's ok. You are just fine how you are and I am the right kind of me.

Oh wow... I'm glad I'm not the only one who eats the rest of picky toddler's meals. I try to do it more like, "Okay, here is my normal sized meal. I'll give about a fourth of it to Alex," rather than starting her off with anything close to a normal amount of food. Then if I'm really hungry after finishing my plate, I'll eat some fruit or something.
I'm starting to do planks, too! At a minute, I'm ready to die. I can't even do one push up--is this something that most reasonably healthy women can do?

Wow! You can hold a plank for a whole min? I am at about 10 sec right now I'll get there though, right?

I was 173 yesterday, now today I'm 170.5???? I am not sure which to go with. Maybe I'll go in the middle with 172. I do weigh myself several times a day because we have a scale that shows your fat & water % and well, I'm fascinated by how it changes through out the day. I am comfortable with the small weight fluxuations though out the day & even day to day, but it usually isn't that much of a difference from morning to morning. Hmmmm....

I loved the July thread. Currently at 117lbs. I would love to go to 112 by the end of the month. I am doing the Atkins diet and High Intensity Interval Training and sprinting/running 5-6 days a week. I am loving it. And physically I feel awesome.

I want to lose 5! We just moved and I don't know where my scale is but I'm about 125. I would like to be 120 or less.

I will do pilates 5-6 times per week and walking 5-6 times per week. I've been really trying to be super conscious about simply eating less since my diet is already pretty healthy, so I will continue that and try to up the ante a little (or down the ante?)

Also, not cleaning Ella's plate as others have posted, and drinking more water and decaf tea.

Okay, here goes nothing...

I am really struggling, maybe this will help.

YUCK, here goes my stats

Currently 173
Eventual goal is to be less than 140.

This month, I would love to lose 5. We have a couple camping trips planned so it may be difficult. I started walk/jog 3-4 times week about 10 days ago. I like that so I WILL continue it. I want to increase the distance to 3 miles by the end of month.

I eat good food, but way too much apparantly since I am the heaviest I have ever been. Until recently, I haven't been overweight. It seems that whenever I change from a processed version to a healthy version, I eat 10 times more. I guess because my body likes it, but I was appalled at the scale at 155 and am still in shock over my current weight.

I would love an online buddy. PM me if you are in a similar situation and also want a buddy.

Amy
