Reviving this thread again as I am an obsessed newbie hooper!

I can't seem to get chest hooping for the life of me! I just enrolled in SaFire's online program so hopefully I'll figure it out soon!

Chest hooping took me about a month to get. Totally worth it!!

A big thing for me was which arm I put in first. Do you hoop to the right or to the left?

And I just fire hooped for the first time. It is awesome!!

Yay I'm glad to see some more hoopers. I had trouble with chest hooping as well. The videos I've seen never have people with extremely large boobs like me so I end up bending forward sucking my chest in. I haven't been practicing much lately but looking forward to getting back to the weekly hoop meetups we have here and learning how to hoop pregnant!

I can't figure out how to keep the hoop at my chest. It seems to work its way up to my neck...which is cool, but sometimes I just want to keep it at my chest. If it ever quits raining I can get some more practice in.
jkg, I would love to hear how you like SaFire's online class.

Subbing!

I tried my first home-made, large diameter hoop last week and I am now obsessed...can't stop thinking about how fun it was.

I finally got the paycheck I was waiting on, so I can go to the hardware store for tubing and so on so I can get hooping!

Ha! I never would have dreamed I would do it when I started hooping! It was really cool doing it in workshop mode the first time. She went over all the safety info.

It was really something. I felt quite safe and all...but the fire just added so much to it. It actually helped me to be more free with my movement. I found it very liberating and must say that there is a new strut in my walk.

My teacher makes and sells them, so it is on my list of toys I want.

I'm going to be incorrigible after I get a motorcycle.

I am uber excited to share and read Hooping stories!

I have one question for everyone though.... how much weight/inches/clothing sizes has anyone lost with JUST HOOPING?

So you chest hoop with your arms in? I'm trying both ways, and the hoop stays way above my waist, but just below my chest. Works my core well, though.

My kids are 8, 5 and 2!

Yeah, I do. The hoop actually hits above my boobs. I'm fairly large chested but have found a good spot for it to roll. And when you move your chest back and forward to have the hoop roll on it it starts staying in one place.

I have found that if I just keep practicing a move for a few minutes a day, I will get it eventually. It just clicks one day!

I have toned up my middle but that hasn't been something I've tracked or focused on.

Get a heavier hoop and work on taking it up from your butt to below your breasts. Run it up and down, up and down and you will see results.

Hooping for me is about freedom and finding joy, about being in my body.

Here's a great video that shows it all--the fitness and the joy. http://www.hoopcity.ca/video/hooping-over-50-timeline

I'm only 3 weeks pp but I'm shopping around for a hoop. I don't have the time to make it an hour away to get supplies, so I figure this should be easiest. I was thinking of getting the hoopnotica deluxe set with the travel hoop and videos. But I don't really need the CDs, even though it's cheaper as the set. Are their videos worth it? Anyone have favorite beginner hoops?

Can't wait to hear about this. I'm not really someone who can make a relationship with an exercise video, but maybe THIS is the one? Anyone a hoopnotica fan or opposite?

I tried it out the morning. Just the first part. It's pretty cheesy and a lot of common sense stuff, but it helped me "get it" pretty quickly. I say borrow it from someone or buy it second-hand if you can. Might even want to try youtube for a clip or other tutorials.

BUMPING

I love watching hooping, especially fire hooping. I have a hoop, but I can't really do anything other than basic hooping (waist, neck, hand, knee, but I don't know how to move from anything other than from waist to knee). I'd love to hear more from hooping mamas!

More than a year and a half since the last post here, any of you still feeling the hoop love? I've learned steadily, and I found a local group to groove with. I would love to hear from some MDC hooper. Updates?
