Way to run, JayGee!!! FANTASTIC time!!! Here's me. Jealous!

We went to Target today to replace the candy with plastic crap...Erm, I mean wonderful toys that will be played with for years and years. Actually, the kids picked pretty well. Katie chose a Groovy Girls Girl Scout doll (she has one already, but wants to "collect all 5!"), Abby chose a unicorn, and Emily chose a My Little Pony unicorn. And the candy is all in a bag, and waiting for dh to come home and take it out of my sight! I had several pieces last night, and couldn't resist a snicker's mini:.

Yes, we had the greedy grabbers yesterday, too. Although, I gave the option this year for kids to have either a piece of candy, or a thing of playdough or bubbles. It's amazing how many kids chose the non-candy! Makes me think next year I'll get just a bunch of different toys (maybe some squishy eyeball things for the older kids), instead of candy.

On lying: I don't remember where I heard it (might have been around here somewhere, even), but I heard a great analogy once. Telling a lie is like blowing on a dandelion. It spreads far and wide, landing in places you wouldn't expect, and is nearly impossible to take back.

Mama to: Katie, Emily , and Abby
Not perfect, Just amazing!

jaygee...wow!

i was wondering if anyone has heard from mandy? i know she was traveling and her grandfather [?] was in ill health. we just got word this morning that dh's grandmother has been moved to hospice and the nurses think it won't be long. she's a tough lady, though, so we'll see. it will be a hard time for all, though, because she was sort of the glue of that side of the family.

anyway, no running for me until tomorrow.

wendy - did you ever go to lafoot in berkeley? i think i'll spring for a new pair of omg-i-am-officially-training-for-a-marathon shoes real soon.

Today is my birthday, I'm 41.

JayGee, you are smokin fast.
Bec, I LOVE the dandelion/lying comparison. perfect!!!

RR: Spin class this morning. I Loooooove spinning. This was my 3rd class in 8 days. I'm so glad that i started taking spin 6 weeks ago, because it rocks. Spin class was 60 min, adn then I got on the TM for 10, and I ran 1/2 mile straight w/o stopping, at 5.7mph.. which is really good for me. I think I am overly ready for a sprint distance tri!!!

I wore my skirt sports bike shorts today for teh 1st time. OMG, they are awesome, as I had ZERO pain or uncomfortableness in my girly parts. I do think I am used to biking now, but the shorts did make a difference. Gaye or Kristina, I forget who told me to do spin class in bike shorts, but thank you for that rec, b/c it was awesome! Atl girls, I wore my blue bubble skirt over it, adn I thought of my matching sisters doing their long runs.

Then I met dh, kids and MIL at IHOP for my 2nd breakfast (yummmm!). MIL gave me a (IMO) big check, so I can buy my Wii fit or bike shoes now.

I made a huge pot of chili for lunch/game watching, and I baked a cake, then threw it on top of a frozen pan of ice cream. I made frosting yesterday, adn I will frost once frozen and we will eat it. My MIL is babysitting my 3 and my 2 nephews here at our house, and dh, BIL and SIL will go to stoney River for my Bday dinner. yippee. My MIL will spend teh night again with us tonight.

Gigi. Mommy to 3 girls.

: CathToria! Sounds like it's off to a good start!

: Gaye

I have 2 to run but I'm waiting until dh and dd1 come home from a bike ride. Ali G has a nasty rumbly cough and I don't think a ride in the jogger would do her any favors. My mom left today after a little less than a week. Her visits are always so fraught. I want to just have fun with her but it just never seems to happen. She's so negative but in that fake-optimistic way and then I get snarky and the she acts like a kid and gets all snippy. ANyway, as I watched the ferry pull away I just felt relieved that I can get back to my routine here.

We did have fun (minus Grandma who at the last minute decided it was too cold to go out - 58 degrees) trick-or-treating last night. There were tons of families out and everyone goes to this one neighborhood that they block off to cars. A lot of the neighbors do really elaborate decorations and seem to genuinely enjoy it so it was good.

BBM, HBM, DrJen - s on the dd front to all of you. I have no btdt but I'm thinking of each of you often.

JayGee - Dang girl! That is incredibly fast! And not a short little run neither! Whoooowee! Smokin'!

Okay, gotta take advantage of the quiet to make a dent in the kitchen. SOmebody start a November thread!

I don't think it was there when I was in Berzerkley. According to the map, it looks like it is next door to the hardware store? Either way, I was a poor grad student then, and I wore the same running shoes all 4 years. :

Poppy - ahghghghem. I dont know if I would buy shoes at Lafoot (my parents are a few blocks away, btw - that is my childhood ... er... through college neighborhood ). Maybe see what they have to say. But have you been to Transports? Its also on College, but closer to Rockridge. Its just south of Claremont on college ave. on the east side. Try both stores and see ......

Popping in really quick to say...

HOLY SMOKES ARE YOU FAST, JAYGEE!!!! That's amazing! WTG!

Move is going ok, as well as moves can, I guess. All the big stuff is moved and the Uhaul is returned. Now H is just moving all the little stuff. And being a typical man, he had no organization and no cleaning whatsoever, and is pretty much just throwing it all in boxes. It's driving my OCD self a little nutty, but I'm letting it go because it's not my problem! Well, it will be eventually if things work out, but for right now I'm not worrying about it!

Back to sitting on the couch with some ice and football...

That was a block from us... Ahhh, my years of perfecting my parallel parking skills.

I got almost 1000 words written today. The goal is 1000 words a day. That ought to finish off two papers and get my career into "doing just fine" category. That was AFTER spending several hours in lab today doing my grad students' work for them.
