or just the Koran?  If ya'll read the Bible is it just Old Testament or do you read the New Testament too?  Do you consider either OT or NT divinely inspired or the word of God?

If you do read it, which translation do ya'll use?

thanks

The Bible isn't a religious text in Islam, no.  Portions of it are considered to have sacred origin, but that is not the same as being a source of knowledge in its present form.

I converted to Islam and I read the Koran as God's word, but I do still read the Bible for inspiration. I find some of the verses very beautiful and inspiring, but I read them almost as I would read poetry -- beautiful personal experiences of God -- but I do not consider the text itself to be Divine 1) because it has been translated so many times and 2) because although parts of it may include revelation from God, other parts are writing of man; it has become mixed. Finally, some parts of the Bible I do disagree with (i.e. Jesus = God), and I encounter feelings of uncomfort when reading these parts.

This is my "reading the Bible as a Muslim" perspective. hope this helps!

That Wikipedia article is a good summary of what we believe about the Bible. smile.gif
