It depends onthe context. It's hard for people to think they put their faith in an alien like those represented in say Independence day or some other Hollywood Blockbuster movie. Just my two cents.

As far as I am concerned, if a being exists that somehow was involved in our creation, that might even still be somehow involved in our existence, that that being is obviously an alien that is simply more highly evolved then we are. If people want to call that alien a god then that is their perogative - I choose not to use the term because to me it implies worship and I while I might admire another being, even seek guidance from said being, I would never worship anyone or anything because to me that implies a degree of subservience and frankly I believe I (or humans in general) have the potential to grow and be an equal to any being in existence.

God is an alien. Right!

God doesn't live on Earth, ergo God is an alien - er Alien.

If God lived in Africa then God would still be considered an Alien in the US. God could be an illegal alien if he didn't go through the proper channels to come to the US.

God better have his papers in order or El Migro will come barging into his apartment. Boy, will they be surprised.

But seriously, Douglas Adams had a very good example of how the planet could have been constructed. Why not? Mice as transmorgaphied supera beings? Why not? It's an infinate universe.

My Dh thinks that the human race was created by aliens as a slave species, and that God (called something different that I cannot remember at this second) is indeed an alien. I do not share that view, but whatever works for him.

Because it is too limiting. God cannot be defined in human terms.

However I guess if alien is defined purely in the negative "someone/thin who is *not* from here" then I guess it works.

Except God is not "not from here," any more than God *is* from here.

My head hurts now.

thanks a lot

If an alien created us, then that's not God. That's a creature, possibly a "more highly evolved," superior, or what have you creature. Any more than me creating my child makes me her God. "God" in the true philosophical sense means "the ultimate, uncreated ground of all being."

As far as I can tell (and I've looked into it), Mormonism believes that God is in some sense an alien (though they don't phrase it that way). They take the idea that we are created in God's image very literally - so basically, he is a physical man, although a "glorified" man, whatever that means. He achieved a high degree of righteousness on his home world, which entitled him to be the ruler of our world. They believe that righteous earthlings can go on to do the same. They have a saying that goes something like "as man is, God once was, and as God is, man will be."

I once asked a Mormon missionary the obvious question "where does it ALL come from?" The alien/human god theory may explain biological human life, but it doesn't explain the existence of the universe. His answer was that this is an interesting question (how do you explain existence in general) but that it is mysterious and not something he felt qualified to look into. I found that odd, because most other religious traditions regard answering that question as the point of the whole thing.

I haven't totally read him, but I have read pages here and there. I know he is a respected scholar/archeologist but I am not sure about the rest. In any case it would make for an interesting movie...which I think is in the works.

If God is a physical being, than it cannot be omnipotent or have the power to make change. If God is a physical being, then God can be killed.
