Sorry to hear about Trader Joes - I was going to suggest them for more reasonably priced kosher meat. At least there is at our local TJ's, esp. for turkey.

If you are in Canada, can't you learn with this rabbi and then have the conversion under a more recognized beis din (rabbinic court)? That is not an uncommon path people take.

I guess I could. I called last week but he has been ill and going into the city daily for therapy. He suggested I call this week. I have to discuss it more with him.

Wow, from this thread I learned that Trader Joes carries Kosher wine. I'm no stranger to TJ - I spend the greater part of our food bill there, just never thought to check!

It is area specific. The TJ's near me doesn't (they don't carry any alcohol), but they do carry organic kosher chicken
