okay so my title is a bit dramatic I know, but really, I think I may have eaten poison.

I got a watermelon (not organic, got it at Winco), it's huge and juicy and sweet. It tasted really good and the texture was perfect. I had eaten a few slices and they were all pretty good. This morning I had some and my first few bites were delicious like watermelon should be. Then I took another bite and it burnt my tongue, like a chemical sort of burning. I couldn't get the taste out of my mouth and rinsing with water just made it worse. I kept rinsing till it was mostly gone and used some mouthwash, it's gone now.

But what the heck was that?! It definitely did not taste like rot or anything natural. But I've never had something like that happen before. Any ideas?

I guess I'm a Mom... how strange and wonderful.

No idea, but dh has allergic reactions to melon - feels funny and itchy all over his mouth when he eats them (sometimes he'll be okay with one slice - then get it after eating more). Could it something like that you'd be developing?

I suppose it's always a possibility, but I doubt it. It really seemed like there was something in the melon. Very abrupt and very strong.

Could there have been a buggie in your melon that you didn't notice? It sounds like what happened to me when I managed to eat a bug in my cornflakes once

What was the melon wrapped in or sitting on in between eating it? Did you put it in the fridge on a plate? Did you wrap it in foil?

Was it seedless? When you cut into it, could you have accidentally spliced a seed? (the seeds are really bitter on the inside).

Here's me I married then we had dd15 , dd11 , ds10 , and then and now we and I blog!

hmm... I don't know what it was. I'm just going to pretend it's fine and see if it happens again. Maybe not the best plan, but eh... whatever.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
