Any recommendations on a creamy, sweet liquid to put in rice cereal other than breast milk?  My six-month-old DD loves rice cereal made with breast milk, but I am planning to stop pumping soon and would like an alternative.  I hate to switch to plain water - yuck!

Is there a reason you are giving her rice cereal? Baby cereal has little to no nutritional value. My boys never had any cereals or purees, we did baby led weaning instead and started them right out on real/whole foods. There is a ton of info on BLW here on MDC and this is the site I used. I would use this as a chance to be done with the rice cereal and replace it with something with more nutritional value.

Actually, we did start with BLW.  Her first foods were avocado, banana, and various steamed veggies.  She was more than ready for it, but her little tummy wasn't, and she had so much pain, gas, and trouble sleeping that we decided to back off.

On day, my husband brought home some organic brown rice cereal, so we gave it a try.  Well, my daughter loved it, can't get enough of it.  Probably because it's made with breast milk and tastes familiar.  It settles her tummy enough that we can also feed her the fruits and veggies with no problems, so it's actually allowing her to eat more variety.  So, we're doing a combination of the cereal, some purees and mashes, and whole foods, and that's working really well for us.  She feeds herself and lets me know what she likes.  What can I say?  Baby led me to cereal.

Edited to add:  In particular, I'm wondering about making cereals (rice, oatmeal, whatever) with unsweetened coconut milk.  Any thoughts?
