My oldest son is five years old and he only wants to eat cereal. I try to give him a lot of different foods but won't eat it. He is very skinny. So I don't want him to lose more wight. I need help anyone have ideas?

Do you involve him with cooking/preparing food? Perhaps if he helps, he'll be more likely to eat the food--or maybe eat some while he's preparing.

Does he have sensory issues related to food?  I'm guessing from your screen name either this kiddo or his siblings have autism.  Food/sensory issues can be common with kiddos on the spectrum.  My kiddo is not but at 16 pretty much still only eats "pre-chewed" food.  He only eats things like hamburgers, meat loaf, chili, chicken patties, things that are "pieces parts"  No steak, no real chicken pieces, etc

I would start where he is, cold/crunchy or cold/soggy and ask him to eat one bite of a similar food a couple times a week (not every meal - because if he was like mine he would stop eating all together). I would also get him evaluated.

Good luck.

but he doesn't want to and i really don't want to push him because then he will just melt down or just space out.
