I would love to have a new Vitamix with a stainless steel cannister. I avoid plastic touching my food. I posted on Vitamix's webpage asking them to do that and people keep liking and adding their comments. Turns out someone has a petition at http://www.change.org/petitions/vita-mix-please-bring-back-the-stainless-steel-pitcher

for the very same purpose. Please sign the petition if you would like this as well.

And why would you want a stainless steel cannister?

"Almost all commercially available plastic products we sampled—independent of the type of resin, product, or retail source—leached chemicals having reliably detectable EA, including those advertised as BPA free. In some cases, BPA-free products released chemicals having more EA than did BPA-containing products." http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3222987/

I spoke with Vitamix and they said they can't make them glass because the motor is too strong. If a spoon or something got left in it, it could crack the glass. However, there's no such reason to not make it out of stainless steel.

I got a very very old Vitamix from a friend when my tube-fed kid was needing a blenderized diet. It actually did have a stainless canister!

Here is an example of one

Yes!!  I had to get an old Vitamix because they only make the polycarbon canisters now.  You can't even get a replacement stainless steel canister.  Signing now, thanks!
