I've done a tiny bit of canning in the past, but I'm planning to get more into it this year.

I've just used printer labels for the jars before because they've been more novelty/gifty things where the jars weren't really intended to be used again. But if I'm canning for my family's everyday use, I'd obviously like to be able to reuse the jars.

Those of you who can, do you have any tips for how to label jars in a way that's easy to remove so the jar can be used for something else next time? Thanks!

I just write on the lid with a sharpie. I tried the sticky labels but I can never get them off the glass! http://www.sbcanning.com/p/sb-canning-store.html#!/~/category/id=5794028&offset=0&sort=normal . these look awesome. Good luck in your search!

Thank you! Yes, the gummy mess when trying to remove a label drives me nuts. Do you buy new lids each time you can?

Yes I use the ball canning lids and rings. The rings are reusable but the lids are one use only. I sometimes use the old lids for dry storage of beans and such but mostly they get tossed. Canning is awesome!

Oh my gosh I didn't even know that! I always wondered why they sold boxes of just lids. redface.gif Yikes, it looks like I'd better read a book on canning before jumping into this. Well, at least that solves my labeling dilemma -- thank you!
