Well, I was wondering how everyone else reacts when they eat processed food. I guess it is probably common knowledge that this stuff is bad for you, but until recently I didn't put together how it made my body feel. I have been working on changing my eating habits for about 4 yrs, it has been a long journey and still a long way to go. Just recently I have really been focusing on cuting out sugar and processed food. I didn't realize how crappy they made me feel until I cut them out. I had a mini-blizzard the other day- don't know why. I felt all jittery the rest of the day and although I was full kept craving more and more food. I think my body was trying to regulate all the sugar and for some reason I kept thinking if I eat more it will help the icky feeling.

I have also noticed that anytime that I processed food I immediately retain water, my weight will go up 2 lbs in one day very easily. Then I have to do a few days of detox to get back to normal.

So, I was wondering how does everyone else's body react to processed food?

This really became an ephipany to me. How does anyone ever lose weight eating processed food, no wonder everyone usually gains it all back. It is a very vicious cycle!

amanda- on day 1 of my Thanksgiving detox!!

What a chore! But I really am careful about what we eat, put on our bodies, and clean with.

MSG causes huge problems - like hands swelling especially and headaches.

A little sugar is ok, but more than a tiny bit and I get headaches and feel ick.

Artificial colors - not good, especially for my 6 year old, I have to really be aware. Makes him bounce off walls.

Propylene Glycol - they use this in stuff like hair products, skin products, supplements, why??? It is anti-freeze!

I do as much as I can from scratch. I haven't reached the point of making my own yogurt, but I may. Stoneyfield is good though.

I am using Burt's Bees cosmetics and I only buy body/skin/hair products that aren't full of chemicals. (I had reqched the point where all the makeup I would put on was causing swelling, redness, itching, sinus problems, etc and I was using Aveda, which is actually full of chemicals, ugh~)

I could go on and on about this subject, but I will spare you...

And people wonder why we have so much cancer and other diseases nowadays.
