I don't know how long it was boiling for. The thermometer read 189F. Can I still use it to make yogurt or did I destroy the protein's? I hate it when I muck up, especially at almost $3/litre.

yes, yes, yes go for it. you can even boil it down more to have a creamier, thicker yogurt. we always boil milk before making yogurt, i guess because in india you have to boil it since it's not pastuerized.

Well, I didn't get a response soon enough so I just went ahead and used it to make a batch. WOW! It's so thick and creamy. It's the consistancy I have been trying to accomplish since I started making my own. Thanks so much, at least I know it's ok to keep doing.
