I am making a ton of Christmas gifts that require canning jars. I can find them online, but don't want to ship them.

~Where can I find Ball/Kerr/Atlas canning jars? What retail stores carry them? Is this something that most Walmart/Kmart/Target type stores carry? Local craft stores?

~What is a good price to pay for 12 of the pint size? I see them online for $9 for 12 count.

Any other suggestions appreciated!

You can find them at Walmart and most grocery stores. I've never seen them at target. I think Kmart might have them, not sure aobut that though. I think they run about 9 dollars a box? I haven't bought any lately as I have lots of them.

Haven't seen them at Michaels craft stores either.

I always see them at hardware stores. Never noted the price though.

Ugh... do NOT buy them at Michaels or other craft stores - I've seen them for $1 each or more. You can almost always find them at a hardware store (like your local Ace, not Home Depot) and often WalMart for $5-6/doz. Thrift stores and garage sales are also great sources. Grocery stores around here carry them year-round, as well, along with lids and rings (if you need them).

I do a lot of canning. I get most at thrift stores, garage sales but for good jars/lids just get them at hardware or grocery stores.
