Wow! YUCK!

I'm wondering who thought that chicken nuggets were healthy? :

I'll not be feeding this to my kids...that's for sure.

Thanks for the info.

That was not so appetizing.....but it isn't surprising!

My ds loves turkey nibblers. I buy them at Save-a-lot. I know they are not the best things for him. So, I'm trying to find a recipe to make my own chicken nuggets and then freeze them. So, all I have to do is pull them out and heat em up.

Good job they don't like them anyway.

I was so happy the WSJ published this...I am sick of seeing chicken strips or nuggests as one of the only options on "kid menus" at even reasonably nice restaurants.

Cut boneless chicken breasts into chunks, bread or use shake and bake. Bake on cooking sheet at 375degrees, until done. Yummy, and better for you.

That is pretty yuck.
I am glad they mentioned Chick-Fil-A.
I used to work there in high school. Their nuggets are all white meat, skinless, boneless chicken breast pieces. They are breaded and cooked in peanut oil in the fryer. They are yum! The oil must be what gives them most of their fat.
I agree with Bladestar5, its probably best to make your own.

Of course, here's another good reason to avoid the nuggets:

Ewwwwwwwwwww....Chicken McNoggin....yuck.

I work at a university and eat in the cafeteria pretty regularly. The kids (college students) go crazy over chicken nuggets. They pile them on their plates (next to their BIG pile of french fries, of course). The nuggets are SO greasy you can see grease puddles all over them. They are served several times each week because they are so popular.

Yuck.

one of my friends cooks the yummiest chicken nuggets in the world! she takes boneless skinless breasts, cuts them into small chunks, rolls them in a mixture of parmesan, bread crumbs, italian seasoning, salt, pepper, a little dill (or sometimes whatever spices sound good at the moment.) then pops them in the oven for about 15 minutes. she serves it with home made mashed potatoes. mmmmmmm

ok, i'm hungry. i need to go fix dinner.

I just read Fast Food Nation. The meat the nuggets are made out of is called "reconstituted." That means that it's ground (and you betchabet that it's not the breasts that are ground but the less sellable parts), mixed with BEEF tallow and other animal products and "byproducts," and then shaped into a nugget. That sounds pretty close to catfood in my book

Homemade nuggets sound potentially yummy though. If I were a carnivore, I'd definitely eat those all the time.

Who on earth would ever think, in their wildest dreams, before or after reading that article, that the chicken nuggets you buy at some fast food joint or in the frozen food section of your grocery store would be healthy?

Marlena ~ I had the same thought but I have to tell you that I have babysat for years and years and the number one, most popular dinner that I am usually told "is the only thing s/he eats" is frozen chicken nuggets.

I don't believe that any of these parents are bad people who are intentionally feeding junk to their kids, so that makes me think that maybe there are lots of people who do not know (and have never thought to ask) what's in chicken nuggets and other yucky processed foods that they are eating and feeding their children.
