I know that no one should be drinking soft drinks, but yeah I have a glass of root beer beside me now!
What's the age that it's ok to give a child soft drinks though?
I'm asking b/c today I was disgusted at my cleaning job!! I noticed a sippy cup with some diet Coke in it!!! Gross! The children are both under 2.5 years old!
Okay, aside from the fact no one should drink soda, DEFINITELY no one should drink diet soda, and it goes off the chart as to how young children shouldn't drink it. If one has to give a kid soda, make it the pure unadulterated Coke. The aspartame in diet products will harm a young child much faster than an adult. The kids have smaller bodies and aren't able to handle it. The stuff should really be illegal. Anyway, ask me how I really feel about it.
Last week my mom let my 5 year old daughter finish her can of diet root beer, I about passed out. Thankfully it was only a swallow or two.
My teenagers can have soft drinks whenever they choose, though we rarely have them in the house. Okay, I did buy a case of root beer this morning, but they had a party and there are only five left, so that's not too bad.
The almost-six-year-old has just recently, in the last few months, been allowed to get Sprite when we're out to eat, which only happens about once a month. The two-year old gets water, he can't see the difference. I think that, while it's not ideal, it's not the end of the world if a child (not toddler or baby) has pop occasionally. You know, if my child drinking pop is the thing that keeps me up at night, I would be feeling pretty good about my mom skillz!
