I'm very surprised at the number of people on MDC who eat fast food.
I thought I was in that rut of shame by myself.
My impression from the other threads, is that a LOT of family's on here do eat it and regularly, without a lot of shame.
I'd like to get an idea of what that looks like. If the options don't fit you exactly, just go for the closest option.

I'll kick us off by voting under the "daily." option.

We eat fast food about 2 times/mo. and the main reason is that when we go to McD's my dh and I can actually TALK while the kids play and we don't have to yell at them the whole time to stop standing on the seats, bugging the people behind us, talking loudly, crying for food that hasn't been brought out yet, etc. It's actually relaxing which is not something you get often w/2 boys ages 3 and 5.

Plus, I feel like my kids need to learn to do things in moderation. In our house we have growing food and sometimes food. They are very happy and proud to eat growing food almost all the time and the sometimes food is a treat every once in a while.

I'm interested to see what everyone else says about this after also reading the McDonald's thread.

Wife to dh, Mommy to ds1 12/2002, ds2 9/2005, and ds3 9/2008.

gave it up over 3.5 years ago or so. total boycot. I'm way beyond the cravings at this point and confident I will never go back. Took adjustments and people putting up with my crankiness the first few months. I wasn't a nice person for awhile. I love food, especially food I don't have to cook myself that doesn't cost much... so one can see why it was a hrad pill for me to swallow. I'm happy with my decision to give it up though.

My answer was "never," but that's really only because it's not an option for us. If it wasn't off the menu, it'd probably be a couple times a month. Still, even then, it'd be stuff like Baja Fresh or Falafel King, with MickeyD's/BK/Jack in the Crack/Toxic Hell being more like once or twice a year.

We generally eat fast food once a week-sometimes less, sometimes more. All depends on what we are doing.

I voted "almost never". If I go, it's without the kids. But I'm biased, I don't like burgers and fries. So my fast food is like food-court type of food.

I eat fast food maybe once or twice a week. Mostly for convenience, as I don't care for the taste in particular and would really prefer a home-cooked meal, but sometimes DH has to swing by a place real quick and I usually get something while we're there. I'm a vegetarian though, so I don't eat the burgers or anything. BK's veggie burger is actually pretty decent.

I looked it up and Chipotle isn't considered fast food. It's "casual dining." Which makes sense since the food quality is way better. Did you know that Chipotle uses naturally raised (sometimes even organic) meat and that so far 25% of their beans are organic?

Oh... I just realized: I sometimes get french fries at Steak Escape or Great Steak & Potato Co., because they cut the potatoes fresh and fry them in peanut oil (and so far, potatoes and peanuts are still on the menu).

1-2x a week, though recently more often b/c I have a new staff member who will sometimes stop by mcDs on her way here and calls to ask if I want a breakfast biscuit or something.

Do you also include stuff like pizza?

I'd say yes, that counts if it's like Pizza Hut, Dominos....that kind of thing. Anyone disagree with that?

I voted almost never. I really don't like how it makes me feel after I eat it, part of it is probably the horrible quality of it, part of it is the unethical treatment of the animals and others in the chain the food goes through before it gets to me. I equate it to the saying "Junk In = Junk Out". Not passing judgement, just my thoughts on it.

I said monthly..with the occasional craving of a bean burrito from taco bell. I also like In-N-Out but I get the veggie burger(which is lettuce tomato onion, sauce and bun) and I like their fries and milkshakes too.

Never. It's been over five years since we have had any fast food. We now know that it isn't even an option anymore due to intolerances.

About 1-2 times a week, but sometimes we'll go 4-5 weeks without having any. Depends on how busy we are outside the house and how our finances look.

I voted monthly.

At one point, it was at least once a week. But money has been extra tight this summer, so we haven't gone as much.

I eat once or twice a week, during lunch when I am too lazy to make it for work. Some weeks I don't buy it at all, some weeks I eat it every day. I figures that averages out! I try to get to Subway every other time or so- that's how I pretend that I am eating somewhat healthy still.

Fast food fast food like Micky D's and the like... almost never. Only when we're going on a road trip of the like. Now a place like Q doba, a couple times for the week, being pregnant. It's all I want, some rice and beans and chicken wrapped in a burrito!

it depends. normally not too much but being that we have been out of state with literally no food in the house, and i could only eat ice cream for a few days, and chick-fil-a has fruit, its been a bit more than not that much unfortunately.

I chose "once or twice a week". I'm really trying to eat less, but...it's so convenient. And pretty cheap too.
