Hi, I'm running low on breastmilk because of the medication I'm in, so I'm just wondering what things have any of you done to help increase your breast milk or even foods that you ate that might help. Please let me know. Thanks in advance...

oatmeal works for me. I mix half and half real oats with instant maple brown sugar. (the real oats are way to bland for me) it helps. Plus TONS OF WATER! try mothers milk tea and fenuegreek.

It has to be the real old fashioned oatmeal for it to work--instant won't help. Fenugreek, blessed thistle, mother's milk tea. If it's really bad Reglan and domperidone are two drugs that help.

still getting the real oats, just giving them some flavor in order to choke them down because I don't like them.

Fenugreek (3 capsules, 3-4 times a day) ups my supply within about 48 hours or so. You know it near working when you start to have a syrupy-sweet smell (literally, coming from your pores).

It's the only thing I've tried, but it definitely works.

Check out www.lowmilksupply.org There is excellent info on increasing milk supply. I also second the www.mobimotherhood.org Great info from both of them.

Nothing has ever worked for me, food-wise (although i do drink mother's milk tea, take brewer's yeast, drink lots of water and have for months) this past week i started eating non-instant oatmeal (i ate instant for the last couple months) and got something similar to More Milk Plus and i pump twice as much now- i'm not sure which thing caused the increase, and i don't want to stop either one to find out!

Thank you all so much! I am definitely going to continue breastfeeding as soon as I'm done with these shots I have to give to myself. (I finished today, but have to wait a few days for the medication to gradually die out of my body . I went and got some real oats and am checking out all of these wonderful websites. Thanks again!!:

I've been eating oatmeal but didn't really notice that much of a difference until I also started drinking apple juice with brewer's yeast mixed into it and whoa - milk! Can brewer's yeast really work that quickly? I've only been doing it for 3 days now but already seem to have much more milk than before. This stuff is like rocket fuel!

Can you just buy brewers yeast at the grocery store? Might be a dumb question but I've never heard of it before.

Lactate Support worked for me from one day to the next. I got it at my local health food store. You can also order it online.

I found it at a large chain health food shop - Holland & Barrett if you're in the UK.
