My babe is 7 1/2 months old. She's been getting some solids since around 6 months old. She loves food, and will eat quite a bit if offered.
My question is about my milk supply. For the past 2 weeks or so the amount I've been able to pump during the day (I work 4 days/week) has decreased by sometimes 2 oz.
I keep track of how many times she gets breastmilk in a 24 hour period and it's gone from 8-9 to 7-8. I can't imagine dropping one feeding (at night, not during the day) would make a 2 oz/day difference.
I thought as long as you're breastfeeding at least 7-8 times your supply would be maintained, especially if at least one is overnight.
I'm struggling with this because being able to pump 6 oz in an 8 hour period is killing my freezer stash (she needs at minimum 7 1/2 oz while I'm gone).
I can't leave 6 oz while I'm gone for 9 hours. My supply is borderline anyway (never had an oversupply) and though she's eating solids and growing consistently she's still on the small side. I estimate she's gotten between 24 & 28 oz/day for months now.
Are the solids affecting my supply that much? I don't want to scale back because she likes them so much. But I can't figure out any other reason my supply would be down for 2 weeks.
I'm freaking out a bit about the whole thing. I only have so much frozen...what will I do when it's gone??? It's frustrating to pump for 20 minutes and get 2 oz total.
