I may need to buy a pump. I have a medela double electric, but it is maybe 7 years old and I'm not sure it's working so well.

I'm wondering, though, if I do go for a new electric pump, which is best? I'm hearing Ameda Purely Yours is a good one? I'm just pumping at home and at this point, I'm only pumping once a week, but I want to start pumping daily to get a good emergency stash going.

Also, I'm seeing used pumps on ebay for pretty cheap. Is this a bad idea? If it is a closed system and I sterilize the boilable parts, do I need to worry?

The only pump I'd buy used is the Ameda Purely Yours since it is a closed system, but that one is pretty cheap new (relatively), and personally it would be worth the extra $ to buy new with a warranty.

I really like my Ameda Purely Yours.
(And so does my babe! Been using it 3X a day at work since he was 4.5 months old... he's just shy of 11 months. We're nearly to our goal of pumping to 1 year!)

I can't recommend the Avent Isis manual enough. I'm a very regular pumper, I pump every single day, for my 11 m/o daughter who is in day care full time. This thing is amazing- can get 10x the volume of milk in a fraction of the time that I could with a symphony rented from the drugstore.

the best part is that it's worth a pittance- $60

I like the purely yours and the medela. If you've got lots of parts for the medela, you might want to stick with that. But you pay a big premium for the name.

I had a used Medela PIS that crapped out on me and I replaced it with an Ameda Purely Yours. I have to say that I am really liking the Ameda since I got it - it's a lot easier to clean and I like that you can control the cycle length, which you can't with the PIS (well I mean it has the let down button but that's it).

Also, I felt like the PIS was huge & heavy where the Ameda is more compact.
