I have had a cough for AGES!  I don't feel sick (except maybe physically tired from coughing) and I do think it is slowly, slowly getting better.  But a lot of people around me have recently been diagnosed with pneumonia.  I don't think I have that (because I don't feel sick) but I do want to get rid of my cough pronto.

It isn't the cough itself that bothers me, it is the idea of all that mucous in my lungs.  So I'm not sure that something like honey would help?  I drink a lot of warm tea, fluids etc.

Is there anything over the counter I can take?  DD's pedi told me Mucinex and/or benedryll would help and would be ok for nursing... but since she's not overly BF-knowledgeable I don't know whether to trust that or not.

I just want something I can take to get rid of this junky cough without 1. losing milk production or 2. harming my nursing toddler.

Any advice?
