So, I've been looking at wool breast pads, at least for night nursing but am having a hard time thinking about spending $40 for 2 pairs. Do you think it would work to buy a 100% wool sweater from a thrift store and make them myself? It seems like it would work in my head but I don't know.

Second question- what is the best brand of pads? I have 4 pairs of Dr. Brown's breast pads and they are pretty good but I would like something else this time around. What are your favorites and why. I prefer the washable kind.

I think the sweater would work..the same concept of repurposing works for diapering! I haven't found any good pads on the market that i really like, but i do like making some almost like a cloth diaper with a microfibre inside and stay dry lining for when i'm out and may leak. Old flannel receiving blankets work well for when u r home and able to frequently change them.

I tried a couple reusable pads and in the end I really liked these the best:

Not wool, but pretty absorbent and hold up well :)

I made my own with flannel and terrycloth, but the ones I like best are organic cotton from Babies R Us--3 pairs for $10 or so. Haven't tried the more high-end ones though.

Milk Diapers worked best for me and I leaked a lot.
