I am mostly thinking aloud here. At the end of the day, I usually err on the side of caution. That said, I like picking the brains of thinking mamas.

I'm currently nursing my fourth kiddo. I real life my world revolves around weight lifting and fitness as a profession and hobby. When not pregnant and nursing, my supplement line up consists of many supplements, including BCAAs and many other pre, post and mid workout stuff, as well as all normal things and good diet, etc. I have always cut many of these when nursing.

When pregnant with my third I got to know a brilliant LC that is also a fitness nut. We were talking about creatine supplementation while nursing. It is one of those "probably safe but never tested to use caution and don't take" supplements. She and I spoke a lot and she ended up in the "once not the sole source of baby nutrition, it is safe, and brestmilk regulates the amount, and excess is peed out".

It got me thinking about other supplements I took (BCAAs and bet-alanine, etc), of course nothing stimulant based. I'm nt the person to use my kiddo as a science experience, but the science minded part of me started wondering about what our breast milk naturally regulates. Or say I eat a load of red meat etc and someone else eats level of creatine is way higher than the other, so how is that different that the non meat eater taking a creative supplement. Things like that.

Anyone thought about this?

that's a good question, i'd be curious to know what you found out. i do know that the type of fat in breastmilk changes depending on the type mom consumes, but the amount stays constant regardless of how much fat mom takes in.
