Whats the deal with bitter melon. I keep reading its contraindicated for breast feeing but don't see why.   From what I have read, they use it in India to encourage milk supply.

Does anyone know why it would be discouraged during nursing? I've been wanting to eat it and cook with it more.

I googled it briefly, and it appears that it could decrease the baby's blood sugar and encourage yeast growth by killing beneficial gut bacteria.

Hopefully someone who know more will chime in soon! smile.gif
