I'm giving night weaning a try. My DD is 18 months old and co sleeps. She used to sleep a bit better but really, the good nights have always been few and far between. When I was back at my parents house for a visit, DD ate a ton during the day and was always busy with uncles and kids. She slept so much better there, hardly ever woke up during the night to eat. When we got back home and to our same old routine, she started waking up a lot more, and is sometimes nursing non stop through the night. She's grumpy, I'm grumpy...poo. I thought maybe she had allergies to dairy or gluten, and cut those out for a couple weeks but no difference. Plus, I ate a ton of dairy (yogurt) when visiting family and she did fine.
So, last night she nursed to bed around 8:15 and woke up around midnight and I nursed her again. She woke up again around 3 and I said, "no more boob" and she yelled at me for a couple minutes then changed tactics and started giggling and trying to grab at my boobs. she was up for about 45 minutes, crawling around before she went back to sleep. She woke up again around 6 and immediately started to cry, "where did it go!?" "where's boob!?" so i nursed her back to sleep. She woke up for the day around 8:45 (much later than her normal 7/7:30 wake up)
tonight we are going to do the same thing, except I am going to try telling her "no more boob" for more than one wake up.
I guess I was wondering if anyone else is in the same boat!? Would love to track progress with others.
Good luck mama. Sounds like a good idea to drop nurses. Tell her ahead of time that you two will be dropping feelings to keep her in the loop so she is not surprised. For my son I would make a big deal about the dropped nurses and we'd make special library trips!
