Hi, my milk supply is noticeably low since yesterday. I have spent the past 3 days out with Jacob for most of the day. He doesnt like to nurse other then sidelying so he just kinda snacks when we go out. Also he has started sleeping in 2 long stretches through the night, nursing only once. He is 6 mo old.

Ive been pumping but getting only maybe 3 oz total from both breasts. Middle of the night last night and this morning I got less than 1/2 an ounce.

What can I do to build back up and pump mroe effectively?

Larissa

fenugreek, or mothers milk tea....if you want to pump after every feeding that might help as well. i just took some medicaton from my doctor called reglan, as i have hypothyroidism and needed a boost, it really helped.

also remember that it works with a supply and demand, your child will take in as much as they want to feel full, and as they get older they become more efficient at nursing. have you started to introduce solids? that can also contribute to not taking in as much bm as before.

I was having the same problem last week. My DS is almost 8 mths old and I could usually pump about 16 ounces during the day, but was down to 8 all day last week. I started on Fenugreek again, Mother's Milk Tea, and am trying to drink more water. It has been helping a lot - back up to about 14 or 15 ounces again.
