My right boob is killing me. It started yesterday and it still hurts today... feels like you feel when you're engorged but she nurses and it doesn't get better. I don't feel any lumps but is this a plugged duct? I have never had one... it kills! I took a hot shower and massaged and combed it, it might be 20% better.

What do I do?

I had an issue like this about a month ago. But when she nursed, it would hut inside too-is yours like this? But it wasn't thrush or anything! I called a LLL leader friend of mine and she told me that if it doesn't get better w/ in a few days to go ahead and see a dr. Oh. Mine was RED too, but only on the lower half!

Who knew boobs would be so confusing!
Hope you feel better!

From my experience, if it is a plugged duct, you'd have a section of your breast that remains full/hard to the touch. It could be thrush. I used to get this regularly in my milk ducts. I used Candex, a natural enzyme product, to treat w/excellent results. Another possibility is mastitis - any fever? redness? flu-like symptoms?

Hope you feel better soon.

Hiya!!!

It very well could be the beginnings of Mastitis. If you "think" it could be then please see a doc. The earlier the better. I have had mastitis too many times and every time I waited. I never seem to learn. So anyways.... is it hot to the touch? do you see any red splotches? do you have any other symptoms like a headache, muscle aches or a fever? general fatigue? If so atleast put a call in to your doc. You may need antibiotics. I hate going to the doc but when it comes to mastitis I beg to get in! I really hope you are feeling better soon.

Thank you all! And thank you Earthy~Mama, I appreciate you conveying the seriousness of the matter... That's how I always feel when people describe UTI symptoms, lol.

I do have a section, about 1/4 of total boob space that feels hard and painful. I'm going to assume it's a plugged duct... when can I expect it to go the heck away?

I am not sure when it will go away. But the more you nurse the better. You can also try a warm rice sock as a compress to help not only with the pain but to release any milk or infection!

Feel better soon!
