At the end of February, when I was still pregnant, I broke out in a rash underneath my breasts. My doctor thought it was a fungal infection and I was prescribed and anti-fungal cream. It didn't work and several different other options were tried. After I gave birth, the rash spread to the area where my legs meet my crotch (yeah, and it itches). I went to the dermatologist, who took a biopsy. Now I've been diagnosed with a staph infection and I'm on antiobiotics.

Both my doctor, the midwives at the hospital and the dermatologist say it's fine to breastfeed my baby, but I'm really nervous about it. I keep him clothed and try to keep him from touching the rash as much as possible. The thing is, I didn't know it was staph until this past week, so I wasn't as careful about it for the first 4 weeks of his life. He hasn't shown any signs of a rash at this point.

So, what do you all think? Is this safe for him?

Well, it's sure tons better than formula! Keep nursing. Take some probiotics and try not to worry.
