This morning I was reading Karen Katz's "What Does Baby Say?" to my 5 month old DD. It's a lift-the-flap board book. On the page "What does the hungry baby say?", the flap lifts to reveal "Ba-ba!" and a picture of baby getting a bottle. This made me wonder if there are any board books or picture books for children that depict BF. I have seen so many books showing bottles - for example, in "Urban Babies Wear Black," a tongue-in-cheek board book showing babies living the downtown lifestyle, there are bottles and pacifiers on almost every page (altho I know tons of yuppie mamas who nurse!). I have another book, "Everywhere Babies" that shows both BF and bottles. But that's rare - I wonder if publishers are worried about showing women's breasts, as if it might be controversial?

I have no problem with books showing babies with bottles, after all that's the reality for the majority of babies. I just think it would be nice if I could have a few books for DD that reflect HER life. Does anyone know any?

I have a French book (well, it's my three-year old's) called Abricot, Mes Premieres Histoires and it's filled with little short stories. One is Le Petit Frere de Marguerite (Marguerite's little brother) and the mother is breastfeeding, quite clearly shown. It was published in 2000 in France.

Great thread. I recently wanted to buy a lot of board books on ebay & asked the seller if there were any mottles shown in the books, and if so, could she exchange them for any other book. No response. I'm interested to hear everyone's suggestions. I would think the LLL catalogue would be a good place to look....

I bought "Breastmilk makes my tummy yummy" for my dd. It even depicts tandem nursing.

I am going to order "We like to nurse" next.

We Have a Baby... not sure of the author, but we recently bought this for our daughter as we are expecting another baby in September. It has a lovely picture of a mother nursing, and the older sister snuggled up to mom as well drinking from a cup and having a snack. Our daughter LOVES this book.
