I thought I read somewhere these were not very sanitary it is better to use pads (and change them frequently).

I have never used that system. I just used the old fashioned breast pads. Now, that I know they have washable that is what I will try next time.

My only cure for leaking was to lean over a warm sink for a short duration - just to get out the excess. It seemed to help when I was home. Because I LOVE to go braless when I'm home. LOL The only embarassing moments would be when I would open the door wet with milk, and it looked like I had been washing dishes in a restaurant with out an apron.

I like the Lansinoh breast pads. The moisture does not stay on the surface. Instead, it is absorbed like in a diaper, turning to gel. Not very environment friendly, though.
