DD is 9 months old and I am 9 weeks pg. All has been going fine but in the last week my nipples have become increasingly more sore. Today it is almost unbearable to nurse her They even hurt when she's not nursing Making matters worse she has this habit of pulling my breast with her mouth and pushing it away with her hand. I plan to nurse through the pregnancy but it's so painful
Any suggestions would be helpful, this has never been an issue for me before.

Nobody has a single suggestion? Every day gets worse and I dread nursing now!

I think it would hurt even if you weren't pg when dd pulls back and pushes on your breast. I would try breaking the suction with your pinky when she does that. My ds was older when I got pg with the twins, so he weaned at 22 mos when I was about 2 mos pg because of the nipple pain. Have you tried Lansinoh? If you don't have problems with thrush you can put a piece of plastic wrap over the nipple to keep the Lansinoh from rubbing off onto your bra or shirt. Maybe the pain will be better once you're into your second trimester and the initial hormones have calmed down a little. Wish I had some better advice for you.

I can so relate!

I had such sore nipples when I tried to nurse while pg. Somehow, I continued anyway, not all the way thru the pregnancy, but almost. Usually, the first minute of latch-on was hardest. My kids were older than yours. I found I could only nurse twice a day, more than that was just too excruciating.

I know you must want to provide as much milk as poss, since your baby is so young. Try to nurse her in a dark quiet place, so she won't be so nosy and pulling offish. Keep your finger near your nipple, to break suction quick. If you are just too sore, can you gently pump and give your milk in a cup or in her food?

Try posting this q on the Extended Bfing forum.
