My little guy (20 months) LOVES nursing! He's in day care all day so his evening nursing time is our time to connect. He sleeps with us and nurses regularly through the night and on weekends when we are together.

The thing is that I am now (3 weeks) pregnant and want to wean him. He goes HYSTERICAL at the thought of "no more chu chu," throws himself on the floor, and shreiks! He tries to climb up me, rip my clothes off, etc. It's quite the show. Needless to say, he ends up getting his "chu chu" in the end.

I try to distract him with toys, juice, food all of which he just throws away. When I'm not around he's fine (I'll travel out of town for a few days and leave him with dad). But when he sees mom he sees "boob" and that's all he wants!

I love nursing him too, but I want to give my body a rest and have energy for the new little on the way.

Suggestions?

Well, you are newly pg. You still have plenty of milk and he knows it. My suggestion is: go real slow. Your supply will dwindle after the first trimester and that may make it easier to wean. Read How Weaning Happens and Mothering your Nursing Toddler, available at

www.lalecheleague.org

or at a LLL mtg to borrow.
