I'm been taking the Diflucan for 3 days now and have been using Micanozole cream on my nipples. It's all helped, the severe breast pain has decreased but the skin on the nipples still looks red, dry and flaky and is very sore. How long does Diflucan take to work on the skin? Anyone know?

I don't know how long it takes to work on the nipples, as I didn't have the red flakies the first time around (I do now ) but it took 2 10 day courses of Diflucan for me to touch the deep breast pain. Vinegar rinses really helped me with external itching.

YOU might also try putting some tea tree oil on a cotton ball and wiping it on your nipples.. I don't know personally that it will help with the thrush, but it DOES help with itching and pain..

I agree with Pynki on the tea tree oil. When dd and I had a mild case of thrush, I made a thrush oil with 2 TBS olive oil and 8 drops each of tea tree and lavender essential oils. I applied to my nipples and dd's mouth several times each day.

thanks, some great ideas. Gee Jane, I've had the opposite happen - the deep breast pain was the first to go - just left with sore nipples now. Not quite sure which is worse to be honest!
I like those oil ideas, gonna go find some tea tree oil tomorrow. THANKS!
