Hello,

My dd is 7 months old and I also nursed my other dd (for 2.5 years). I have this sharp, mind-numbing pain in my right nipple. It is not a plugged duct. From what I have read I don't think it is thrush (no white patches in her mouth). Her latch has not changed. We have had a very successful nursing relationship. Any idea what this is?!!!! I continue to let her nurse, but it is extremely painful.

Thank you!

It can be thrush without white patches. They could develop later if left untreated. A sharp stabbing pain is an indicator of thrush. Do a search here for treatments.

Also, you can have thrush yourself without your daughter having to have it!

Although if it is thrush you really need to treat both yourself and the baby so you don't pass it back and forth. Here's a link to get you started on treating it if it's yeast:
