Hi

I got AF back in February (16.5 months post-partum) and now I am 3 days late.

I took a home pregnancy test on Wednesday and it was negative. I really odn't have any other symptoms so i wasn't totally surprised that it was negative.

so i am wondering if it normal to not have regular AF, once it returns, during bf.

thanks

I would not fret! For the first few AF I got they were spaced anywhere between 35-45 days! It really depends on the frequency of nursing. I just got my 6th postpartum AF and this was the first one that was on the money(and i was very predictable pre-baby!), but the last month my ds has not been ill or teething so nursing hadn't increased at all.

I wouldn't worry and expect the first few to be a little awry!

Yes - you can expect irregular cycles for awhile. I got AF back at 13 months post partum, and it never did become regular - I got pregnant at 20 months post-partum and I had only had one cycle that was back to my normal 35 days - and even then, I was a couple of days late (but wasn't pregnant).

Until getting pregnant, my cycles ranged from 3 to 6 weeks long....very strange.

Konur is 2 and just got over a cold so he was nursing a lot and cut way back. I got AF a week early because of this. My cycles are totally wonky!

I got it back when ds was about 15 months, and it was a little weird in terms of timing for a while. now, it arrives regularly but does weird tings wheen it gets here. I have a lot of clots (small ones, but lots) which I never had before I was pregnant. Also, it lasts about 4 days, stops for 2 or so days, and comes back on the 6th or 7th day for a day or two. Weird. I just assume it's because I'm still nursing. BTW, ds is now 2.5 years old.
