I just explained to my DH (13) and DD (8) about extended bfing! their lil sis is 13 months. We were all being lazy in the bed this morning and DS said.....she's gonna have to stop nursing soon.
I was soooooo suprised! I asked him WHY? and When should a baby stop? he says....when they are 2 feet tall, or 25 lbs. *What?????* Where did this come from? He said....I hope she's not 8 years old nursing on you! My DD says...how ever long she wants to:she (the baby) will decide! (yeah!)
I never expected this of my son! but I did turn it around to being a conversation about what is best for the baby and the health benefits of bfing.
all I can say is Wow!

Yes, that is such specific information. Did he get it in school, TV, another adult in his life? Glad you set him straight.

I have a DD that is 13.ANd a DS that is 8.They have always been my biggest supporters. If anyone ever ask when Littlebit who is 3 is going to wean they have always said when he is ready and not until then. They talk about how it is going to be a really sad day for the whole family when he does decide to wean.Because Littlebit is all about nursing. He loves his Nynees.

Those sound like very special children.

In his defense he is very helpful, and my DD is my little momma. very "in tune" with the baby. His Dad (my X) has a baby 9 months older than ours, and I'm sure that their "style" has influenced my DS.
I about dropped my jaw though when I heard those words come out of his mouth!

I certainly did not mean to imply that your children are not special! Obviously he heard that rubbish from some ignoramus, and it is their fault, not his.

Well, my 9-week old DS was 24" tall at our 6-week visit...and I plan on nursing him for a long time to come!
