Hello,

My daughter is about 5 months old and has decided she only wants to eat from my left breast, she seems to prefer to lay on *her* right side and I've tried giving her the right breast from the left side (does that make sense?) but since it gets ignored so much I think it's not producing as much - My son who is 3 seemed to like my left breast better as well however, he *would* take the right one.
I am not worried about her getting enough because I realize that my left breast can make enough milk to feed her perfectly fine it's more the being lopsided and the discomfort I feel as my right breast gets engorged.

Anyone else have a one-side-only nurser? Any ideas on how to even myself out a bit? :

my ds (10 wks) is doing the exact same thing - left breast only. what i'm doing right now is just nursing on the left, pumping on the right, so i don't get too lopsided and uncomfortable, and so, if he does get over the preference thing, i'm not closed for business on the right . he does take the right breast if he's really really hungry, but only until he realizes he's been snookered - then he fusses for the left again. odd...
anyway that's about all the advice i can offer as we're trying to figure our way through this as well... good luck!
(on the upside i am managing to stockpile a large emergency breastmilk supply in my freezer...)

Whew! So glad you responded, I was starting to think maybe my 'left breast' issues were one-of-a-kind :LOL

That's a good idea on the pumping the other one - I should do that too, it's been a while since I've used my pump I may as well dust that puppy off!

Happy nursing - with just one breast
