I just wanted to introduce myself, and ask a question. I'm Nichole, mom to Marlena, who's 11 1/2 months. Since I've become a mother, I've totally changed. Before I got pregnant, I was adamant that DD was going to sleep in a crib in her room, wear disposable diapers, and I'd nurse for MAYBE 6 months.
Well, I'm now a proud co-sleeping, slinging, cloth diapering, nursing AP'ing mom!
Since nursing is going so well, I'd like to continue as long as my DD and I want. My family and I were totally horrified when my SIL bf'd for 2 1/2 years, because we knew none of the benefits of extended bf'ing. We didn't say anything about it, and she kind of tried to hide that she was still nursing.
My family is very supportive of breastfeeding, but I would like to educate them on the benefits of extended bf'ing. I really don't know many of the benefits, however.
Would someone mind filling me in or directing me to a FAQ about the benefits of extended bf'ing?
