I have an 11 month old who is still nursing a lot... I give him bits of whatever we're eating, but his main nutrition still comes from breastmilk.
I was curious... when can he begin drinking soy milk? Peds. say that cows milk can be introduced at one year, but I'd rather introduce soy, if that's okay. He's had soy-based products and he's never had any sort of reaction.
Sooo... would a couple of ounces of soy milk every now and then be harmful?

My little boy had soy milk around then I think. No problems here. I mush prefer giving him soy too. He gets so stuffy and yucky w cows milk.

We don't do soy milk in my family much. We do drink organic cows milk. But I always gave my babies tofu chunks, (either raw or simmered in a broth) starting at 8 or 9 mos. They loved to self feed those chunks.

I think it is okay to offer soy milk at 11 months. I waited to introduce the most common allergenic foods (soy is one of them) until my children were 16-18 months. I gave them enriched rice milk instead. We like Imagine brand rice milk and White Wave? Silk soy milk.

How about almond milk, you can easily make it yourself and it is much healthier than soy or rice milk. Mix in a banana or other fruit and you get a great and healthy smoothy!
