Some of these "you know you're,,," threads have been showing up on other boards lately and they always crack me up. So I thought I'd start one here, because I know you mamas will have some good ones! Here's a start:

You know you're nursing a toddler when...

-you start dressing and undressing the way you did in 7th grade gym class: bra comes off before shirt...put arms through new shirt without exposing breasts. If you do not do this, someone will latch on before you can even make it in or out of the shower!

-all shirtless people encountered by your child...this includes men and kids... are greeted with enthusiastic pointing at their chests and the chant of "nurse nurse nurse"!!

Can you all come up with some?

Trying to get my bearings...

Your nursling is hanging upside down, standing up, and otherwise contorting.

Your child refers to you as "nurse nurse nurse" rather than Mama. :

Really, as Mylo gets older, nursing is more like a session at the gym than lunchtime.

Your nipple gets stretched like taffy because they want to walk around with it in their mouth.

LOL! I love that! When I step out of the shower these days, dd looks up at me and smacks her lips. It's a joke between us now!

Here are some I can think of...

Your child doesn't want to wear overalls because then she can't nurse her dolls.

There are four parents in your family: mommy, daddy, and (in our family) nursie, and other side.

When you have a blister or a sore nipple, your sweet toddler gives it hugs and kisses to make it better (I had a very bad milk blister/plugged duct, and dd looked at it the other day and said, "It's looking better!)

For your child, eating cookies and milk means chomping on a cookie between mouthfulls of breastmilk.

Wow Daryl! Really? Gum? Glad dd doesn't have enough teeth for gum yet!

Pinky: "Nurse" and "Ossa" (other side) are respected members of the family here too!!

Trying to get my bearings...

ROFLMBO!! BTDT!!! Dh has totally laughed at me with food crumbs left on my breast!! I once had sand on my nipple from when we were at the beach and dd got some sand in her mouth and then wanted to nurse!

Oh, and you know you're nursing a toddler when your toddler "lifts" your large breast to his/her mouth to nurse. I don't see too many infants doing that! LOL!

you know you are nursing a toddler when....

...she can undo your buttons and bra to get to your breast

...when she laughs with glee at the site of your naked breast

...when your clothing options are limited b/c your toddler needs to be able to pull up your shirt, b/c otherwise she gets frustrated and screams

I agree about the holding your large breast to her mouth (I'm a DD and my little girl holds it up there too)

After she is finished nursing, she waves and says, "Bye! See ya!" Then she stuffs your breast back into your shirt.

You know you are nursing a toddler when...

...they play peek-a-boo with your shirt

...they hum the alphabet song

...they pop off and name your anatomy

...you offer nursies so you can get a little break

...they go from hellion to angel in less than 3 seconds

the only way to complete a phone conversation - short or long - is to have a mama milk snack. i swear, the phone rings and dd comes running.

:LOL

I had been nervous about DS learning words like "boobie," but now I'm sort of hoping that he picks something like that as his word for nursing.

I love posted above about talking on the phone. I am nursing 1 year old twins and when I get on the phone the noise level in the house seems to rise. I just sit on the floor and lift my shirt and I can complete a phone conversation in peace and quiet......

These are all too funny! Boy do I get you on hiding those boobies while I change or shower. I'll get undressed in the shower and toss my clothes over. If dd sees my boobs she opens her mouth really wide and leans towards me.

LOL ....

I'm only days away from being an official EN momma, but I've been lurking for a few days anyway.

I can' t tell you how much this list made me laugh. Adia is infamous for playing peek-a-boo with my shirt while she's nursing...always makes me laugh.

Thanks for the giggles!

You know your nursing a beyond toddler when...

They kick you and get grumpy when you tell them to wait a minute.

They ask to nurse in the middle of pretending to sword fight.

They are the last of their same age friends that still nurses, even in the group of serious APed kids.

You are asking yourself 'why oh why... why ... how do I say no?.... why why why? - ouch!'

OK, maybe I'm having a bad week!

You know you're nursing a toddler when. . .
She knows at least five different ways to ask for nursies . . .
She makes deals with you to get you to sit down and nurse her.
She asks you to nurse her Barney doll.

you push the shopping cart way out in front of you at the store so ds can't reach you and state to all within earshot, "What are these? These are MOMMY MILK!" and pat you right where they live!

I used to have to make up a nursing song for every new vehicle that was rolled up and down my person during a drink. It all started with the tow truck:

I love my tow truck, I love my tow truck.
It makes me very very happy.
It has big wheels and they are yellow;
it makes me very very happy.
But it's too big to get a drink
for it sometimes bonks me in the head.
I love my tow truck, blue and red tow truck,
it makes me very happy.

We actually haven't done that for a long time, whew, at 2.5, ds is on to new things like reciting the latest news from NPR back to me or asking when we can have a Mommy Drink AND listen to Cartalk. How do I explain it plays only on Saturday and Sunday?

...when you're in line for a cold cashier in a thin shirt and dd keeps pointing and yelling "Look Mama! NIPPLES!!! NIPPLES RIGHT THERE!! I see biiiiiiig NIPPLES! " poor girl looked like she was trying to sink into the floor and I was laughing too hard to even apologise!
And I have nursed many animals and action figures...and a tire guage: at the parts store this morn.

I thought of this thread this am when my baby pulled off suddenly, shouted Pigs!, and stuck her foot in my face - then latched back on. Obviously the nursing was boring and she needed some "this little piggie" to liven things up. A week ago she pulled off suddenly, shouted "dance!" and stood up to dance to her favorite cartoon theme. Silly monkey!

That has happened to me! Too Funny!

When you're having a bad day and your dd asks if you are sad and then offers you some mimi's to help you feel better (while pulling up her shirt!)
