How much breastmilk have you stored? And why?

I am pumping and storing breastmilk as a "just in case". I know it is only good for 3 months. Should I use it at the end of the 3 months if it was not needed? What should I do with it if it is not needed. I feel awful throwing it out. How long should I keep pumping and freezing for?

Thanks in advance.

i have probably just under 400oz in the freezer...but i keep it in a deep freezer, so it is good for a year...

if its in a fridge/freezer, then the milk should be good for 3-6 months...

one thing you can do is rotate your stash...pull some of the earlier dates out, defrost and use that, then put what you pumped today in the freezer...this way you continuously have a freezer stash, and you are not having to dump what you dont use...

I have none. I wish I did, but I have supply issues and don't seem to be able to get ahead. It creates some real stress when I am at school and worried that he will have a eating spurt.

Probably around 1500 oz. I had oversupply early on, from the combo of pumping/nursing while in the NICU. I recently donated a few hundred ounces to a milk bank. I freeze around 20 oz a day. With my 5 year old, I had too little supply.
