She had a fever one day and nursed all night that night and then wouldn't nurse at all the next day. This is day four of the nursing strike and I don't know what to do. I'm holding and wearing her all day, bathing with her, we co sleep. I guess I'm worried that she won't go back to nursing. Is she using this as an opportunity to ween? Have any of you ever had your nursling go this long on a strike?
I also have a 3.5 year old that is nursing who came down with the cold yesterday and he asked why it hurt to nurse.
I really need support and encouragement and creative ideas on how to encourage her to nurse again.
Thank you
Lisa

I would also check the ears.

NO other sucking- no bottles, pacifiers or sippy cups.

Offer often.

She is WAY too young to wean.

hang in there!

I took her to the pediatrician and her ears are fine. She just saw sores in her throat.
She has never had a bottle or pacifier in her life. That's why this is making me crazy!!

Sores in her throat- odd. Hand foot and mouth perhaps?

I would also not spoon feed.

What is she eating/drinking in a day?

I guess I meant to say red spots, not sores. I guess she just has a sore throat......or had a sore throat. My theory is that it hurt her to nurse for a day or so and now she's scared of it.
She's been eating oatmeal, bananas, smoothies, tortilla's and avocado. I've been giving her breast milk with a dropper and water in a cup.
What do you mean by not spoon feeding? Not spoon feeding the breast milk or not spoon feeding her things like oatmeal?
Thanks for your help,
Lisa

I would not spoon feed any solids. It tends to put them in faster and in higher quantities than baby could by themselves. In this case I think spoon feeding or dropper feeding bm is great.

hope things improve soon!
