I was in the hospital last night for an inner ear infection. It was horrible. They filled me up with drugs and now I'm not sure if I can nurse. The baby is 24 months, so he's not really a baby.
Here is the list of drugs they gave me. If anyone has the Medication and Mother's Milk book, and would like to look these up for me, that would be great!! Of course, I asked the doctor about it, and he just said I should go ahead an wean. :

Morphine 4mg
rocephin 1gm
zofran 4mg
meclizine 25mg
auralgan ear drops
potassium supplement (I'm sure that one is fine)

..........thanks! I'm going to go lay down now.

Morphine is fine- and anyway it's likely out of your system by now.
ear drops are fine- very little is absorbed systemically.
meclizine is fine- I was prescribed that when nursing a 7mo (ER doc went and asked a ped in the ER before giving it to me.)

I'm not sure about the zofran or rocephin.

Zofran is the drug of choice for pregnant mamas with hyperemesis, so I'm sure it's fine while nursing and Rocephin is given to infants for infections, so looks like you're safe all around. Hope you feel better soon.
