UPDATE - I just noticed my nipple is cracking/pealing a little, if that helps anyone.

My daughter is 13 months old and I plan on breastfeeding her until atleast 2. That's my goal. However, with this intense pain, I don't know if I will be able to.

A couple of nights ago, my grandmother watched my 13 month old and my 3 year old while dh and I went out to dinner, went to the lake, went to a friends house. We were gone for around 3 hours. We picked the kids up, came home and 13 month old was sleeping, so I couldn't nurse her. My right breast was engored at this point. Something that hasn't happend for months!

So, for the past couple of days, I've been in pain. Atfirst it was my whole breast that hurt when she nursed, now it's just really the tip of my nipple. Do I have some sort of infection? My nipple hurts if I touch it even. It feels like she is biting me non stop while nursing, even though I know she isn't.

Please help!! What's causing this and what could make it feel better?

I have no idea, but my breasts will sometimes hurt too when I haven't nursed for a while -- different from engorged hurt, more sharp shooting pains. Not sure if it's similar to what you're experiencing but wanted to share a hug.

Hope you feel better.

see if you can hand pump and then let your LO empty the breast as much as possible.. i am thinking plugged duct and you want to get that breast emptied out before you do get an infection and to get relief... HTH happens to me sometimes too!
