My baby is 7 weeks old, and we've just started introducing a bottle of EBM for occasional use. He got the hang of drinking from the bottle very quickly, but this evening we gave him 3 ounces and afterward he spit up what looked to be most of it, or maybe half - it seemed like a lot! Poor guy was choking on the stuff.

This was his 2rd time drinking a significant amount of milk from a bottle (there were a couple of times before that where he just played around with the nipple and had a few swallows), but the first time we have fed him as much as 3 ounces.

Should we be feeding him less initially?
Or do we just need to give him frequent burping breaks during the feeding session?

He almost never spits up after breast feeding.

Sounds like the nipple flow might be too fast or you might need to burp more frequently

Good luck, Momma!

Thanks - I'm using the Medela slow flow nipples. Does anyone have experience with them? They're the ones that come with the feeding & storage kits from Medela.
