Assuming that you do NOT plan to have any babies in the near future or you are done with having new babies all together, what kind of birth control do you use?

I was surprised to see how many are using artificial and/or hormone type bc.

Do those of you using the pill or anything with hormones, do you eat organic food?

Because of the nature of the question, I answered in the past tense. During the time we were not trying to have babies, I used BCPs (followed by the Nuva ring).

We're currently TTC #1 so you can see that the BC worked. (: on stopping BC working soon.)

Next form of BC is going to be charting to avoid. I only realized *after* switching to the Nuva ring how much the hormones in the BCPs were messing me up. Haven't noticed any changes since stopping the Nuva ring except my skin breaking out and sore breasts almost my entire cycle.

I voted "other" since I'm not sure what it would fall under . In the very beginning of our relationship (10+ yrs ago) we used condoms (HATED those). I never wanted to go on any type of hormonal bc so we would use the pull-out method (when he'ld remember to though) Once we started actively TTC it would just seem that it would only take a few months (although this baby on the way only took 1 month). So I wouldn't say we NFP as in charting and temping... we just feel that if it's meant for us to have another baby it will happen when its time and when we've decided we're done we'll most likely do something permanent.

I have had a tubal, but I didn't see the multiple choice option.

I have used the pill and diaphragm/condoms. Never had an unplanned pregnancy.

When we were first married, I used the pill or the shot ( <----- that's what I think of the shot). When we started ttc dd, we used NFP, and so since she was born, we used NFP. Since she still nurses so much, I haven't gotten my fertility back, so I've really just been noting cm, and only started temping when she turned a year. I'm not counting on it 100%, getting pg right now wouldn't be the worst thing, but we are planning on waiting another year before trying.

I voted NPF, but it's more like bfing. I do not get pg easily while bfing, AF stayed away until DD1 was 2.5 years old.

There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way.

I basically just knew that I was done. I was single, almost 18, and I had two kids under 4. Oh and I was very poor. It just wasn't a good scene over all. I really only ever planned on two kids anyway. I just got them a little sooner than I anticipated.

It turns out it's a good thing I did it. I ended up being diagnosed with some conditions later on that I think wouldn't have worked well with pregnancy or early motherhood for me.

the poll just had IUD as a choice, not the specific kinds, i have a copper hormone free IUD, the other the Mirena makes your period stop and that seems weird to me (even though i have still not had a post-partum AF, thats breastfeeding not artificial hormones)

Mirena CAN make AF stop, but certainly not in all women.. mine has been very light (but NOT nonexistent), and I have had Mirena for almost 2 years now.. oh, and I am still bfing, so once we are done with that, I don't know what will happen with AF...

but I do think about the hormone thing a lot. I used to be on the pill, and even had the shot (many, many many years ago) and my ob said it made my insides like raw hamburger.. just gives me the willies.. thankfully the hormones in the Mirena are comparably light.

What is your IUD called? I would like to do some research on other options (Mirena is only good for 5 years and needs to be removed, so it is NOT a permanent option).

after I got off the pill, we went to condoms, then to w/d.. and ended up with surprise..

Anyway, I am pretty fertile, so it plays a big part in my options.

We used the pill for a couple years until we TTC #1. I got pregnant my first month off the pill. I then went to the mini-pill while breastfeeding and stayed on it after he weaned. I had an accidental ectopic on the mini-pill, then switched back to the regular pill. This latest "oops" is a result of waiting 9 or 10 days in between months instead of the regulation 7, and having sex on the last day of that. I thought it was early enough in the month it would be OK ... apparently I ovulate early.

My libido is pretty low lately, so we've actually had an oops 2 of the last 3 times we had sex. :

I vaguely pay attention to my CM and days of the month, and we use condoms and pull out, but we dont pull out all of the time... We used to just pull out and pray, and that "cute surprise" is 5 months old now and sitting on my lap as I type

I voted Pill, and yes, we do eat organic food whenever we can. This is the best solution for me - I got pregnant in 10 days (straight off the Pill) the first time and 2 mos. the second. We're done now, but I still take the Pill, because I have horrible cramps and would be in bed for 1-2 days each month if I didn't, plus miserable (and making my family miserable) for the week before and week of. No relief from having kids at all, which is something that I had been told would happen. My doc is letting me take 3 packs before having a period, and it's honestly one of the best things ever to happen to me. We all do the best we can as far as NFL goes.

Mom "D" to DD1 "Z" (15) and DD2 "I" (11) DH "M"

I was on the pill (ortho-tricyclene) when I got pregnant with my daughter, and was on the "pull out and cross your fingers" method when I got pregnant with my son. I have had the Mirena for a year & a half now and absolutely LOVE it.

NFP with a little bit of Male Factor Infertility thrown in for good measure. Used LAM for 18 months, no baby!

Now TTC, but will use NFP with absitance/condoms during my fertile time when done having babies. Don't believe in hormonal birth control.

Renae wife to J :, Mama to 4.5y/o J-bird and 2y/o A : and E coming in late Dec/Early Jan. My husband had a living donor kidney transplant! :

I have a Mirena IUD, so hormonal, we try to eat organic and I'm veggie.

I live the best life I can, so it might not be perfect but it's the best I can do right now.

We have tried almost all non-hormonal methods, but this is best for us. I have had unprotected sex for 3 cycles in my life and I've been pregnant 3 times. We want the best prevention odds we can get without doing something permanent, we aren't sure we are done yet.

Right now we are using condoms but I am hoping for something else soon as we want to start TTC #4 later this year.

I got pg with my 1st while on the pill and with my 3rd using NFP so I really don't trust any kind of BC with me, you just never know

Use NFP for years, but we lack self control. Tomorrow I have an appointment to get fitted for a diaphragm. It took me forever to decide between that and the sponge.
