My MW recommended Hypbirth for my labor, which I've started listening to in the last week or so. It's really helping me calm down (something that's been very difficult this pregnancy) and I'm feeling confident that previous hypnosis training for labor along with this will make an enormous impact.
I'm using Hypnobirthing. I've been doing guided meditations for 15 years, so it just seemed like a logical fit. I'm really enjoying it. Had a class with a hypnobirthing teacher who is also a hypnotherapist- she was great. I'm going to start listening to the hypnobirthing cd with the guided meditations and the birthing affirmations every day now. I also have other non birth related guided meditations that I enjoy listening to just to get into that zone.
I have the Hypnobabies home study course, but haven't started it yet. eek! It feels like I'm just running out of time... Definitely on my 'must do' list for this week.
I've been doing self-hypnosis and relaxation throughout pregnancy (my first), and it's been soooo helpful for this worrywart.
I use a hodge-podge of things, alternating recordings so I don't get sick of anything. I really like the Hypnobirthing tapes (Rainbow Relaxation and Birthing Affirmations). My naturopath/midwife is also a hypnobirthing instructor, and she did a session with me and my husband. I also have a CD called "Dr. Larry's Birthing Naturally Program" that I like.
And finally, I just started using "Gayle Peterson's Pregnancy Relaxation," which also includes a section for labor and birth. I think relaxation/self-hypnosis will be my single most effective tool during labor, so I'm really glad I learned how to work with my body this way.
I've (finally) booked a series of 3 sessions with a hypnobirthing instructor/doula who comes highly recommended in our area. The first one is tomorrow night! I'm really looking forward to it, and am very pleased that my mom agreed to paid for it
(she had a traumatic Csection with me and I think really wants to help me avoid that if she can).
Apparently we get a video and a cd. I will let you know how it goes!
