I have posted in the BFing forum too, but thought I would try my luck here...
Does anyone know if buspar is safe to take while BFing?
Or what natural supplements are good for anxiety and safe while BFing?
Maybe SAMe?
I am just soooo overwhelmed and at the end of my rope right now! I feel like I have no patience, motivation, or drive at all anymore. I feel like I'm blindly navigating thru life with no purpose, no pleasure, just chaos and stress.
I just need something to help me cope. I thought I had left my drinking days behind me, but now I remember why I used to drink. But I can't go back to that place in my life again, so I've gotta figure something else out.

This is such a huge topic!  Every person has different needs.  Is this your 1st baby?  How old?  Are you getting enough nourishment?  Blood sugar drops can trigger major anxiety and I was totally unprepared for how much I needed to eat while breastfeeding.  Are you getting sleep?  Are you getting time with friends face to face, or do you feel isolated?  Lots and lots of questions, I know.  I don't mean to overwhelm with them, just acknowledging that this is a complex issue and I hope you find the support you need.

I needed to eat more and have permission from my husband that it was okay that the house was a disaster and that I wasn't expected to do it all.  I needed help and I had unrealistic expectations for myself - yes, even feeding myself and my family 3 meals a day was too much for me in the first year but I stubbornly thought I SHOULD be able to get all the laundry done and cook all the meals while recovering from an under-nourished state due to pregnancy and breastfeeding.

I love the idea of contacting a local La Leche League educator about supplements/herbs/meds that are supportive and safe while breast feeding.  Do yo need help finding one?

Well this is my 4th LO, he's 2.5 months. I'm trying to lose baby weight but I think I'm eating enough. I see my friends usually at church, 2 or 3 times a week, but my sister just moved in with me, so she's keeping me company and helping with some chores. But I do still feel isolated. Idk why...I def have no clue how to find a local LLL, I've never had any BFing issues.

I hope you are getting some good response from the breastfeeding forum about meds/herbs/supplements that are safe while lactating.

Have you had a chance to search this PPDepression section for info?  Do you need one of us to help with that?

I am an herbalist by training, on long-term maternity leave from clinical practice so I am not doing consults, but I can ask my colleagues for a good herbalist in your area or someone able to do a phone consult.  This is not something I would make recommendations for on a forum.  You are welcome to PM me with your general location and I'll ask around.

Sounds like to need the space to take a few deep breaths without feeling like you're barely treading water.

I've done a little research on the Web, I do have buspar on hand, but the studies I've read are not convincing. I guess I'll keep searching.

Both my MW and GP recommended Buspar while pregnant and BFing. From what I've read it is safe. It may also help to speak with a counselor and learn some relaxation and other coping strategies. Good luck mama! It's tough!
